WELCOME TO CHAPPELL'S GUNDOGS
We are a small kennel located in Fairbury Nebraska. We specialize in bird dogs for the foot hunter. Whether your looking for a competition dog or just a really good bird dog, we can help you with that. We breed one or two litters of German Shorthaired Pointers a year and occasionally have well bred Labrador Retrievers for sale. We also offer started and finished dogs for sale.
With origins going back to the Spanish Pointer, a bird-dog which would point, retrieve, trail, and also be a family companion was developed by seventeenth century German Sportsmen. To achieve this, Bloodhound, Foxhound, and later English Pointer blood were introduced to produce the German Shorthaired Pointer, a name often abbreviated to GSP. A noble, steady dog, showing power, endurance, and speed, the GSP is alert and energetic with graceful outline. A dual purpose pointer/retriever, the breed has a keen nose coupled with perseverance in searching and initiative in game finding. Excellent in the field and a keen worker, this loyal, biddable dog stands 21-25 inches and generally weighs 55-70 lbs. Females 21-23 inches and 45-60 lbs. The coat is short, flat , and coarse to touch.
